Cricketers have been rewarded for excellence during a 2015 summer to savour in the Dipple & Conway Opticians Norfolk Cricket Alliance.

From Downham Market in the west to Lowestoft in the east and from Cromer in the north to Thetford in the south, this season’s outstanding teams and starring individuals gathered at the Wensum Valley Hotel & Country Club to receive their medals and trophies.

North West Norfolk side Fakenham was named as Club of the Year. Alliance chairman Peter Thomas said: “They were good both off and on the field. It was just disappointing that they couldn’t go on to get the reward they really deserved by getting in the East Anglian Premier League. But they are a young team and I think with another year of experience they can only get better.”

Vauxhall Mallards’ Carl Amos was named batsman of the season after racking up 1074 runs, while Marcus Bishop, of Lowestoft, and Simon Key, of Norwich, shared the bowling award, each taking 38 wickets. The third individual award, for best wicketkeeper, went to Swaffham’s Andy Dale, who accounted for 30 dismissals.
