U9 Finals Day

U9 Winners: Vauxhall Mallards
Vauxhall Mallards sealed victory in the last over of a high-quality final against Bradfield in the Frankly Digital Norfolk Cricket Alliance Under-9 competition held at Brundall.
Batting first, Bradfield scored 251 against some excellent bowling and fielding. This was always going to be a close match, with both teams playing to a very high standard in all departments. Mallards’ final pair paced the run chase perfectly and the result came down to the final over, which began with Mallards in front. Despite Hudson De Lucchi bowling very well, team captain Toby Adams saw off the final balls for Mallards to claim the John Dewing Trophy. Umpires Andy Gardiner and Jason Lambert made Adams man of the match.
Earlier, in a closely fought play-off for third place, Horsford beat Bungay after setting an excellent target of 312. Bungay batted superbly, getting within 11 runs with their last pair still to bat, but could not get the final runs needed to overtake their target. With two balls to go and Bungay needing six to win, Horsford tied up the game with great bowling from Billy Harvey.
