Dewan ton hands Brooke crucial victory

Rahul Dewan's unbeaten century handed Brooke their first win of the season at the expense of fellow Premier Division strugglers Old Buckenham.

Dewan fired 114no as Brooke beat the bottom club by eight wickets, leaving Bucks 27 points adrift. Earlier Tom Banham had hit 51 for Buckenham, with Brooke's Stuart Pritty taking four for 36.

At the other end of the table, a second-wicket stand of 253 between Alex Stuart (160) and Patrick Yates (114no) put Downham on the way to a winning draw against Vauxhall Mallards A.

Stuart blasted nine sixes and 17 fours while Yates hit a six and 16 fours. Joss Stuart took three wickets for Downham but Mallards held out for a losing draw.

That result stretched Downham's lead to 43 points after North Runcton lost at home to Lowestoft by 143 runs. Mpho Sekhoto's 128 proved the difference between the sides as Lowestoft collected maximum points.

Cromer moved up to second with a 91-run win at home to Acle. Michael Warnes made 56 for the hosts before Richard Charlwood (four for 23) and Dean Elliot (four for 30) left Acle reeling.

Diss won by 57 runs at Norwich & Coltishall Wanderers.

In Division One, Sam Thelwell stepped down from Swardeston's first team to help the second XI crush Norwich A by 156 runs.

Thelwell took six for 46 after Sapumal Herathge (72) had batted Swardeston A into a commanding position, helped by a seventh wicket stand of 57 between veteran Peter Thomas (45) and 12-year-old Callum Taylor (40no).

Sprowston maintained a healthy lead at the top with a 60-run win at Bradenham.

Phil Squire (60) and Dan Anderson (61) helped Hales move up to third with an 84-run triumph against Bradfield.

Sheringham won by 45 runs at Stow and Topcroft picked up a seven-wicket victory at bottom side Beccles.

Division Two leaders Mattishall were given a scare chasing a low total at Swardeston B as Matt Hogg and Kevin Cooper took three wickets each, before the visitors scraped to a two-wicket win.

That extended their lead to 18 points after second-placed Downham A fell just short of victory at Fakenham A.

Keegan De Ridder hit 97no for Fakenham and although Warren Bowman replied with 59 for Downham, they finished four runs short of victory and had to settle for a 90pc losing draw.

Dereham gained their second successive win as Tom Head dismantled Saxlingham with figures of six for 43.

Hillington collected a winning draw at Saham Toney to move above their hosts into third. Anthony Dobing hit 65 for the visitors, with Saham's Ben Smart taking four for 57.

Peter Coote's 65no for North Runcton A could not stop the bottom side falling to a five-wicket defeat at Garboldisham.

Burret fires Tas up the table

Nick Burret fired 101 for Hethersett & Tas Valley as they moved up to third in Division Three with a winning draw against Kirkley & Lowestoft Railway.

Ryan Moore (51) and Chris Lambert (58) ensured Kirkley did not crumble in the face of Tas' impressive total.

Leaders Horsford A are now 12 points clear following their two-wicket win at Mundford. Matt Goodrham made 61 for the hosts, with Matt Webster hitting 66, but Horsford just managed to chase down their target, Louis Bellchamber scoring 80.

Rob Gurney (51) gave Great Witchingham A the upper hand against Thetford, but Mick Piggot's 52 helped deny them outright victory.

Chris Nation starred with bat and ball in Ashmanhaugh's winning draw at home to Dersingham. Nation made 80 and then took four for 34, but the visitors reached 90pc of their target for a greater share of the points. Earlier Dersingham's Manny Sayers claimed six for 33.

There was a tense finish at Acle A, where Swaffham won by one wicket. Shane Tovell hit 59 for Acle, with Swaffham's Colin Yates taking four for 32, before the visitors edged to victory.

Adam Ferguson's brilliant all-round display helped Sprowston A move up to second in Division Four with a seven-wicket win at home to Bungay.

Ferguson collected four for 34 in the Bungay innings, before smashing 109 with the bat. Sam Niblett also took four wickets for Sprowston.

Leaders Great Melton hung on to take a 90pc losing draw at Narborough. Melton's Oliver Harris took four for 27 before his side finished eight runs behind the hosts with nine wickets down.

Raj Uthayarajan took five for 32 and Jamie Bradford fired 97 in Norwich B's seven-wicket win against Bradenham A at Ingham.

Andy Duckham's 120 put Hardingham in charge in their winning draw against Halvergate, with Rob Fowle adding 63.

Aldborough's Troy Allan hit 83no and took three wickets, but Old Buckenham A were able to hold on for a 90pc losing draw.

A half-century and five wickets from Andy Ingham helped lift Brooke A into second spot in Division Five with a winning draw at Rocklands.

Ingham's 53 and 93 from Simon Cushing put Brooke in a strong position before Ingham struck with the ball, taking five for 52.

Mike Tooke hit 60 for Diss A but could not prevent Hethersett & Tas Valley A from collecting a three-wicket win.

Cromer A stay top following their nine-wicket success at Vauxhall Mallards B, while Stow A humbled Dereham by the same margin.

In Division Six, Sam Kimber's 94 was the highlight of leaders Bradfield A's impressive run chase in a six-wicket triumph over Mundford A. Kieran Long made 62 for Mundford.

Ian Weetman made 60 and Mark Fordham took four for 21 as second-paced Mattishall A kept up the pressure with an eight-wicket win against Garboldisham.

Lowestoft A's Karl Storey hit 101no against Swardeston-CEYMS and Marcus Bishop added 65, but Tom Snelling (55no) ensured Swardeston comfortably batted out for a losing draw.

Beccles A notched their first win of the season, a 43-run success at Thetford A, with Andy Wright taking four for 14.

Andy Kerling's 50 could not save Thetford, while Terry Hunter (52) was Beccles' star performer with the bat.

Mark Hedges returned figures of four for 23 to set up Saxlingham A's eight-wicket win at Topcroft A.
