Vauxhall Mallards CC Under 9 captain Dan Hastings was presented with the U9 John Dewing Trophy by Norfolk Cricket Alliance Vice Chairman John Tythcott. It was the third time in as many seasons they have claimed the trophy after a tense final winning by 7 runs against Bradfield Cricket Club.
Umpires Nigel Crickmore and Mike Spenceley gave the Man of the Match award to Harry Williams of Vauxhall Mallards for his 27 runs, two wickets and fine wicket keeping.
The 3rd/4th playoff between SwardestonCEYMS and Horsford saw a comfortable win for SwardestonCEYMS. Vauxhall Mallards got to the finals unbeaten through the season, playing 8 matches, winning 7 and a tie against Garboldisham. SwardestonCEYMS came second in the South group, losing just 3 of their 8 matches. Bradfield won the North section by one point from Horsford in a close league. Special thanks to Vauxhall Mallards for hosting the Finals day, to Steve Stone for running the day with Paul Ingram and Sharon Stone and the parents for providing the food for all the boys.
Thanks must go to all the teams that played this season and had so much fun. Also the parents and managers of each team. We look forward to seeing more teams enter for next season to start off their hard ball cricket and enjoy playing what has become a starting point for cricketers in Norfolk.
